YAY! Alright so the team has already decided to investigate the high-rise area and after a conversation with Helena and listening to the news interviews again, start suspecting that there might be something more to this than just shapeshifting that is later confirmed when they visit the high-rise and get an idea of just how brutal the fight between Brutus and Matt was. They climb the ruined old high-rise and Hiro sits down in a meditative position and places his hands on the office and he gradually lets his mind step into the world of the past and gets a look at the office, even being able to walk around the room freely while viewing it. This is where he confirms it as he sees a man speaking to the cheerleaders about their sins and what they've done, how the world needs to be purged of sin, etc. A lot of Knight Templar stuff. What really gets Hiro's attention is when he spontaneously shapeshifts into a woman who, while she's more kind and comforting to the girls, still agrees that Brutus purging the world of sin is a necessary evil for the world to be saved in the long run. Even if there is no place for them in such a world. She shapeshifts back into the man and they go back and forth like this for awhile until they 'feel' Brutus coming and bid them goodbye and the man shapeshifts into Brutus.
It's a very painful transformation too. Like something you'd see in an old Werewolf movie.
Fortunately before they can commence with purging the girls, Bruiser breaks in through the old skylight and sucker punches him out the door and frees the girls.
That's enough for Hiro. He pulls himself out and takes a breather while he informs the team and Jennifer of what he found. This confirms it for them.
Brutus, whomever he really is, likely suffers from Dissociative identity disorder and due to his shapeshifting abilities his alters are able to not only take control but also take physical form.
Still they have a lead now. They know what two of his alters look like now at least and they know that he's officially a shapeshifter so they can branch out instead of just looking for Brutus.
In addition, the rock climber girl was spotted earlier climbing around the park and while they didn't think it was too important at the time, now they aren't so sure. Especially since Matt can confirm that Brutus can wall climb.
They do a bit of digging and find some people who saw her and interview them. Afterword, Hiro shakes their hands and they are gradually able to put together a complete picture of where she might have come from.
So they go and investigate the park and where she crawled out of and investigate it. They locate the mini-room where he hid out and Matt forces it open. Hiro does his trick again and gets to see all of the alters talking to each other in there earlier...including the primary one, Cade Cannon, screaming for help.
Whatever else his alters have done, Cade Cannon is a man in desperate need of help.
Knowing a number of the alters, he shares his vision with Flannery and Lian, who relay them to the others. Thanks to the images and descriptions, Jennifer and the police are soon able to pull up files on him and find some information on Cade's history.
He was supposed to be receiving treatment at Silk Meadow Psychiatric Hospital but he escaped while being transferred to a more secure facility and has been in the wind ever since.
This isn't just someone they can stop by punching. This is someone they need to save.
The team knows what most of his alters look like now. Even if they don't necessarily know all of their abilities just yet, they can still find them.
Next, they turn on the cameras around the city to find him and Lian and Jess gather the team up to gather up materials for a tracking spell to find him while they work on a plan to save him.
If Brutus does take over however, a fight will be inevitable, so Matt volunteers to be the one to keep him occupied in a physical confrontation while Jess and Hank use gadgets to tie him down and Flannery, Lian and Hiro take the fight to the mental plane.
This isn't a fight that will take place on the physical plane. This is a fight to save Cade Cannon that will be waged within his mind.
While he's preoccupied getting tied down, they work their way through his mind and take a journey to the center of the mind that takes them to meet all of the alters until they finally meet Cade and help him.

During their meeting with him they learn the sorrowful nature of his past and of the things his twisted therapist said to him...
Ultimately they succeed in shackling Brutus and the others and giving Cade the strength to take control of his life again.
Back in reality, Brutus collapses and slowly turns back into Cade Cannon who breaks down crying both from sorrow and gratitude for his salvation.
Cade is taken to a government facility and locked up in a secure cell with his powers dampened so they can give him proper long-term treatment.
The team rests up and celebrates their first victory as a team and the salvation of Cade Cannon.
But in the backs of their minds however, they know that this therapist lady is going to need to be investigated.
