I want to leap over the buildings
Want to fly over the shores
Save the people from the villains
Catch the crooks who, rob the stores
Write my name upon the sky
And when you call me I'll be there
Faster then a lightning flash
Rushing through the cool night air
So start ignition count to zero
I just want to be a superhero

A kind hearted young man who grew up in Serenity City hearing about the stories of the legendary superheroine who gave her life for the city and the world. He knows all of the stories, he knows every line, he's seen the footage of her heroic battles and he and his family made regular visits to her memorial. Not just because Serenity was the Ideal Hero but because, approximately fourteen years ago, when Matt was two years old, she saved the lives of the Maximilian Family during her fight with Equilibrium.
Serenity was a hero to him and he never even got to properly thank her for saving them all.
As he grew up, Matt aimed to follow in his father's footsteps.
At least that was the plan. But he couldn't help but feel that there was something missing in his life.
He tried various hobbies and he was good at all of them but they just didn't satisfy the hole in his heart.
Matt kept trying but he just felt like there was something out of his reach that he kept failing to grasp.
This feeling persisted until he happened to come across a mugging while out jogging. With nobody else around, Matt got involved. He was able to take out the first guy with a sucker punch abut his companions proved tougher nuts to crack. The battle was fierce but Matt was ultimately able to triumph because, even back then at fourteen, Matt was already crazy strong.
Matt was pretty banged up but he won and returned the stolen belongings to the victim. Matt then went home, collapsed on his bed and laughed. He'd finally found his calling.
It gradually became a regular thing for him. He would sneak out to find bad guys to fight or just find people he could help out when he was out and about.
While not all of the fights went particularly well, he always won, even if he had to drag himself back home covered in bruises and scrapes and put band aids on cuts and take long cold showers to make himself feel better. When he wasn't out fighting, Matt would work on his school work and projects to get into the genius school his parents had been pushing him towards so that he wouldn't let them down.
All was good for awhile.
Until he got too big for his britches and tried to take on a group of enemies that he really wasn't ready for.
Matt had caught wind about an abduction and hostage situation and tried to go in and stop it.
It was a disaster.
Matt started out strong, managing to take out a few of the men from surprise but as he progressed inside one thing became abundantly clear: He'd drastically underestimated his enemies and overestimated himself. Matt got demolished. He was stabbed, slashed, shot, tazed, beaten, battered, thrown through walls and doors and more. Matt realized the harsh truth very quickly: This was not a game, he was fighting for his damn life and he had to get good FAST.
Matt got his ass kicked all over the place but every single time he got back on his feet and fought his way up the building until he finally dragged himself up to the top floor looking like he'd just fought a war.
Matt collapsed against a wall, barely able to stand, seething in pain, his cheat heaving and his body barely able to properly move, took a short breather, pulled himself up and he ran down the corridor for one last fight.
The end result? An entire hallway full of broken bodies and one battered teenager punching down a door and freeing the kidnapped victims.
He took a couple of minutes to rest and then he started to lead them down the hallway to the outside but that's when reinforcements showed up and started filling the building. Matt couldn't fight them. Not in his condition. So he improvised instead. He went down a floor, limped across the hall, fell into a room, pulled himself up, opened up a window, looked around, found the fire escape, grabbed two of them and told the last one to hold onto his back, backed up and took a running leap out. The landing was less than graceful which did not do his wounds any favors.
Still he was able to get them down but unfortunately they saw him and they gave chase.
Matt split up from the civilians and lead the thugs into the park where he hoped to lose them and double back and try to wave someone down.
This didn't go quite as planned and they tracked him down. He defended himself the best he could but they cornered him and got ready to just shoot him.
Matt weakly raised his fists and closed his eyes and then a meteor struck down from the sky and exploded. A beautiful light shined around the city that night and Matt blacked out.
He had a dream but he only remembers bits and pieces of it. He remembers....there being someone inside with him. He thinks it was a woman. She said something to him but he can't remember what it was.
Matt woke up in the hospital feeling sore but his wounds had been closed back up! The doctors said they found him unconscious in the park at ground zero of the explosion surrounded by a whole bunch of unconscious people.
Matt was a bit foggy but he did ask if there was anything else wrong but there wasn't. His wounds had been healed by the time he was found.
Matt spend an extra day in the hospital until they gave him a clean bill of health and he got to go home and relax.
While he was asleep though his body started glowing and changing.
When he woke up the next day his body had gone through some changes. He was stronger now. A lot stronger. Way stronger. He was breaking things on accident and sweating a lot. He was thirsty and hungry. Matt took a long cold shower and got dressed again to cool off the sweat and he decided to just try hanging out at the pool all day. While he was trying to figure himself out the doorbell rang and Matt opened it to find a young man waiting for him with one of the kids he saved. He introduced himself as Hank Harrison and thanked Matt for saving his little brother. Matt asked how he tracked him down and Hank explained his deductive reasoning: His brother told him that the hero had run off in the direction of the park, then there was an explosion IN the park, the news said that Matthew Maximilian was among the people who were caught in the explosion inside of the park, and that he had a clean bill of health and been released to go back home. Since his parents were rich and famous, Matt was easy to track down.
Matt had to hand it to Hank: He was freaking smart. He let them in and the three of them bonded and the Harrisons agreed to keep his secret.
When Matt's parents returned home he introduced them to the Harrisons.
As his powers continued to develop, Matt eventually settled on talking to Hank about his developing powers and they began testing his growing powers: Super Strength, Super Toughness and Super Jumping.

Matthew and The Harrisons had hours of fun filming him goofing off and testing his powers. Eventually, Matt decided to get back in the hero game and 'suited up' again. He started doing his nightly patrols again and after awhile he finally found some crime to fight.
Some punks were trying to rob a store but Matt intervened and easily tossed them around like rag dolls....after double checking with the store owners that everything was insured of course.

After saving them, Matt saluted the store owners and met back up with Hank and they celebrated his super heroic return.
Matt resumed his superhero career afterwords, smacking down crime wherever he found it and having a blast while doing it.
As he adventured, Matt began to gradually realize he had something else. A kind of sixth sense to intuitively detect the good or positive intent in others. Matt was able to tell how much good is within others based on their sense of the amount of good.
It wasn't as honed and powerful as Empathy or Telepathy, but it does work as a sixth sense and it gave Matt a sense of peace and joy as he took in all of the good vibes wherever he went.
His Superhero Lifestyle went well. It was nice and easy up until the day he finally met his first SuperVillain: A man calling himself LaserShow. Naturally with a name like that, his powers were, of course, energy blasts, very hard hitting blasts too.
LightShow was essentially his wake up call boss. You know the kind. The Wake-Up Call Boss is more or less a boss that symbolizes a massive Difficulty Spike, or at least symbolizes the point where the game stops going easy on you. At this point, everything you've learned but haven't really considered yet will be severely tested: Everything before was just getting you used to the controls, this is where the true challenge begins.
Essentially, the fight came down to range. Matt's fighting style was primarily focused on close range combat, which was a problem since LightShow could keep him at bay with ease and his energy blasts hurt like hell. Matt ultimately triumphed by ground pounding the ground hard enough to cause a shockwave which knocked LightShow off balance and then he threw a large rock at him which knocked LightShow on his ass. He got it off but Matt super jumped over to him and finally landed a knockout punch on LightShow. He took off his ski mask and realized that LightShow was one of the men who had been in the park that night.
It slowly began to dawn on Matt there could have indeed been others in the city who were blessed with powers besides him, a fact he discussed at length with Hank.
And so it went. Matt split his time between fighting crime, discussing strategies with Hank, working his butt off in school and training.
It's been two years and Matthew Maximilian is now sixteen years old. He has been accepted as the new local hero of Serenity City and has had a successful track record of beating criminals, both normal and powered, until now.
There is a new threat in the city. Brutus The Animal. A beast of death and destruction and the first super villain that could truly match Matthew in a fight.
