Loreto Luciano: The Vampire Maid

96 years ago, Loreto was a human maid working for the absurdly wealthy Gehring family. Capable of buying things that are inconceivable to most people, the Gehring family had a nearly impossible store of liquid assets. If there was anything they wanted it belonged to them all due to a deal with a high ranking demon generations ago. The demon gave them great wealth and the means to gain more. All it required was an increasing amount of human sacrifices and they were armed to the teeth to do so.
It was relatively simple at first but as the years went by the demon demanded more and more sacrifices, killed in the form of a ritualistic hunt.  

The family line was paved in blood.

In 1938 they would meet their end at the hands of a simple unassuming maid named Loreto they'd gone out of their way to abuse, torment and threaten for their own amusement. It didn't matter who their servants turned to. The Gehring Family had more than enough wealth and power to silence them and buy off whomever they wished. So Loreto and the others had to endure it silently. In Loreto's case however, a cold burning rage was building up inside of her and a darkness was born in her heart and began spreading.

When the time of sacrifice came, the servants, The Gehring's and a number of 'friends' of the family and many other people were gathered together for a massive over the top party followed by being told they were going to play a 'game of hide and seek.'.

Where the guests and servants would hide, either in the mansion or the grounds or the forest and the family would 'hunt' them. Whoever managed to remain hidden until dawn would receive a cash prize, enough to set them for life.
If they were caught however, they got nothing.

Everyone ran for the hills while the family prayed to the demon and prepared for the hunt.

It was not even remotely a fair fight. The Gehring's had multiple weapons and even some trained soldiers and bloodhounds on their side.

Their victims were unarmed and aside from the servants were unaware they were being hunted.

The hunt was a bloodbath. The majority of their guests, friends and servants were killed quickly as the rest panicked and split up, being pursued by the villainous Gehring's.

Loreto however had managed to smuggle out a sparse few weapons and with a little distraction she was able to get the jump on one of their soldiers, slit his throat and run away with his gun.

How did she do this you ask? By covering herself with blood from another victim and playing possum, then killing him from behind.

However, luck isn't everything and she was an untrained young lady against an army of bloodthirsty killers.

Their overconfidence and the size of the forest was literally her only advantage.

She spent the majority of the night alternating between hiding and running for her life getting only a few lucky kills by shooting from a distance and then running again.

Once it became clear that she was a threat though, everyone focused on Loreto and her luck ran out.

She ran, she hid, she shot but she was outnumbered and untrained. Loreto did manage to escape the hunters but she was left horribly wounded from multiple bullet wounds, arrows, knives, shrapnel and other wounds.

Loreto collapsed by a creek covered in blood. She sighed and looked out into the distance, content to accept her death if it meant freedom and satisfied with finally getting a little bit of payback at least.

As she lay there bleeding out a shadow fell over her. One of the Gehring's had tracked her down, intending to torture her to death for what remained of her life. He took out his knife and raised it above his head only for an arm to reach out, and rip his head off.

Loreto's savior tossed the corpse aside and time seemed to slow down as the woman introduced as Lilith of the Red Dragon Coven.

After a quick summary of who and what she was, she gave Loreto a choice: Does she want to die or does she want to live? Does she want to die in this place or does she want to fight?

Unable to talk, Loreto weakly raised an arm and slowly closed it into a fist.

Lilith was delighted by her answer and black wings unfolded from her back as she embraced Loreto.

Dawn came and just about everyone had been killed. The surviving servants were forced back inside. The son's death was mourned by the Gehring's but they never found Loreto's body and she was presumed dead.

Aside from the cleanup the day was normal for the hunters.

It all fell apart when night fell however. Loreto reappeared at their back door fresh as a daisy and repeatedly knocking on the door until one of the daughters opened it and drunkenly ordered Loreto back inside.

Loreto ripped her throat out.

From there it was an absolute massacre. The Gehring's and their minions were absolutely slaughtered. Every last member of the family was butchered in horrifically brutal ways.

Whatever it was they let into their house was not Loreto anymore.

  The servants were the only ones spared as the house burned down around them and they ran away from it.

As the mansion burned down, Loreto emerged from the flames carrying the mutilated carcass of the Gehring family patriarch. There wasn't much left of him. His lower half had been ripped off, his left arm had been ripped off, the right chunk of his body had been torn off, there was a hole in his chest, the upper right of his skull was gone, his lower jaw had been ripped off along with the skin of his chest and his right had was bone. Loreto held his mangled remains up while unleashing an unearthly howl into the sky.

It was only after her blood rage had been spent that she calmed back down and snapped back to reality and found herself covered in blood, viscera and entrails and her former friends mortified at the sight of her.

Lilith reappeared to take Loreto with her as she tossed the mutilated corpse into the flames.

Knowing the former servants would never be able to live normal lives after this, Lilith altered their memories just enough to save them from the trauma so they could live normal lives and then she vanished with Loreto.

Lilith later assured Loreto that the Gehring's were suffering the greatest torments of Hell for their murder pact.

A treasure chest of immense wealth was later delivered to the former servants, whom had ended up living in a small town as farmers, enough to set them up for life, with the condition that they keep quiet about what happened and live pure lives.

Things were not quiet for Loreto however as WW2 broke out not too long after this which was even bloodier in this universe due to superhumans and supernatural activity on all sides. A horrific war that affected her even worse.

Regardless she was able to work well as an assassin eliminating key targets under the order of the Coven and feeding on soldiers and others at night.

Following the war she was officially knighted as a warrior of the Coven despite her berserker tendencies in battle.

When Carmella was born to Izumi, Loreto was selected by both The Coven and Izumi, whom she'd bonded with, to assist as a nursemaid. Despite her initial awkwardness regarding childcare, she eventually got the hang of it and worked tirelessly to care for the newborn Princess alongside her mother and the others. Even spoiling her at points since she was still bound to obey the Princess.

She continued to serve the Coven and family faithfully. So it was no surprise that when Lian was born she was selected to help with raising the child.

In current times, Loreto works as a maid for the Red Dragon Coven, albeit as an occasional assassin, and regularly suppresses her inner demon.

Fortunately though she has found a new loving family and friends in the Coven.
