Derrick and Bryce, Split Down The Middle.

Ooooookaaaaays!

SO!

Bit Of An Explanation Here!

I've been thinking over some past stuff and I wanted to do a rewrite of a minor character Bio I did in the past and how it all tied into Derrick Blackburn's overall character development.

Sooooo here we go. 2.0. Let's rock.

2 Years Since The Farm.

The black books with the information of the Brannons' associates were located next to the corpse of Ambrosia. The two children she took with her have not been found.

The associates of the family were tracked down and killed or arrested, leading a greater criminal conspiracy being blown wide open, exposing a cannibalism, organ and human trafficking ring, leading to hundreds of further arrests.

Derrick has been in therapy, I mean obviously right, after the nightmare he and his family endured at the farm in between pushing his body through an intense workout regimen and weapon training, determined to not be a victim again.

He was ultimately able to graduate Silver Creek Middle School, but he did it through online courses and he did the same for his first year of Millennium High. He attended orientation all the same and got acquainted with one of the school counselors, Constance Horner, and she was notified of Derrick's history and that he could talk to her about anything anytime.

Derrick continued his HS day but it wasn't long before people started to notice him.

The Brannon Farm Firefight had made global news and now he was surrounded by people asking him question after question about it, the majority of which he avoided or he dodged and gave a small short answer to, in fact leaving the room on more than one occasion afterwords.

It should be noted that Derrick killing one of the thugs and technically killing Thaddeus, were both covered up by the family. Leo took the credit for those to spare Derrick having that follow him any further than it already would.

Even two years after the disaster, they still had the occasional reporter/vulture pestering them about it.

That problem aside though Derrick got along well with his fellow students.

This is where we bring in Bryce Montgomery.

Okay.

So.

The previous iteration of this character concept was a giant middle finger to 13RW. Obvs.

He still is. But in a different more nuanced way.

Bryce Montgomery.

A ludicrously over-the-top perfect, heroic, overacting, manly,  egotistical preppie style character.

Bryce was like, The Best. He was the fastest, strongest, smartest, most athletic guy at Millennium High and good at just about everything he tried and he has a perfectly glinting set of teeth.

He threw the best parties, won all the awards, was at the top of his classes....you get the idea.

That was...until it came crashing down.

If you recall, one of the corrupt cops was named Danny Montgomery. Well, there was a familial relation there. He was Bryce's Uncle.
Yeah. He was that uncle.

Needless to say Danny Montgomery being arrested and his role in the atrocities the Brannons' committed not only sullied the towns police force's reputation which would take a long time to repair, but it also got a lot of eyes looking at Bryce's Family. They were being questioned by everyone, the family was constantly being hounded and their reputation was being dragged down through the mud.

All this on top of reeling from the fact that they were still reeling from the revelation that someone in their family had been working with cannibalistic murderers behind their backs for years.

Basically, similar but opposite to the Blackburn's lives after The Farm.

Rather than being over the top evil and antagonistic, like his namesakes, this version is more complex.

His first interaction with Derrick even started off friendly. He was having a bad day but he was still nice to Derrick initially if awkward. At least until Derrick introduced himself.

You could hear a pindrop afterwords.
