Gotham Knights RPG Storyline: Green Arrow. What's The Difference?

Just a few notes on what's different about this version of GA.

  1. For starters, yep! Green Arrow is a woman in this version. Olivia Queen!
  2. Backstory is more or less the same as CW GA, with some differences in that she spent additional time on The Island.
  3.  So, season 3
  4. The Season 3 era part of her journey started with her waking up on the shores of the island battered and bruised from the fight with Slade on the ship. After realizing that she was stuck on the accursed island again, she set off and spent time exploring the island and honing her survival skills. In canon, CW Oliver once said to Barry that he spent five years on an island and he didn't get cold anymore. Thus, this part of her life was spent  trying to survive a winter on the island while her mental condition worsened. Remember, she would have been alone on the island for the first time in two years while carrying the guilt of Shado, Sara and Slade while still missing her old life.

She even spent time talking to her photo of Laurel and suffered hallucinations because of almost dying thanks to the cold. She would talk to herself to ease her sense of isolation.
  5. Then, after awhile of honing her survival skills, a crime syndicate came to Lian Yu to set up shop as a waypoint in their drug trade and human trafficking operations. When Olivia discovered them, she went full hunter mode, Queen of her island and her jungle. She set traps and ambushes to take people out one by one in her attempts to save people. This battle ended with a battle that Olivia won but she lost the war. The crime boss was wounded and his men were reduced but they still got away. Olivia was not ready for the big leagues yet. She made mistakes and let her rage get the better of her.
  6. Season 4 Flashback Timeline. Time has passed since the last battle. She was running through the island, bloody and tired from a well armored and armed unit of soldiers in jungle camouflage.  They had been hunting Olivia for a long time with one goal in mind: To capture her. She did much better here despite their numbers and training, having learned from her past experiences and knowing the island like the back of her hand. She thins the heard with ambushes and traps until the very end when she was finally brought down and defeated and dragged to the beach and thrown to the feet of Amanda Waller.
  7. Season 5 Flashback Timeline.

In my version, season 5 is the one where Olivia leaves the island, learns the skills she had at the beginning of the show, makes various connections and learns Chinese and Russian. Amanda Waller once asked Oliver who did he want to kill more than her, well, in my version the reason for that goes like this: We start the flashbacks on the island, with Olivia beaten and broken barely keeping on her knees in front of Waller while Waller explains how they’ve been keeping track of what has been happening on Lian Yu for some time and finally decided to find out who was the cause of what was happening on that island for the last 3 years. She congratulates  her on surviving that long against her men and claims that this proves once again that he is the right man for the job. It turns out Amanda Waller needs someone that is expendable yet formidable to do some dirty work for her in some countries her arm could not reach yet. Waller also informs Olivia that she and her forces took out the traffickers and thanks her for making it easy for them.

Despite her crappy condition, Olivia naturally tried to go smartass on Waller but then the river turns and she flips her cards. And that card is a three way conference call to Starling City, each of them showing Waller's men meeting and spying on Moira, Thea and Laurel. After some more threatening, Oliver breaks and accepts Waller’s offer that she couldn’t have refused anyway.

After that, she spent time on suicide missions for Waller, along with a select team of agents and disposable criminals, a sort of Suicide Squad if you will, in China and Russia. In that missions, she learned how to use a city like she used the island; learned some technical stuff, made connections with Bratva through Anatoli, learned Russian and Chinese, met various characters of the DC World, etc.

As her missions became more dangerous and violent, she slowly became the focused and dangerous vigilante that she was at the beginning of the Season 1 Timeline. She saw herself as a weapon more than a human in the hands of Amanda Waller AND as a shield to protect the people she loved by her actions.

At the end of the Season 5 Flashback Timeline, Olivia was knocked out by Waller's forces, again, and then woke up on  Lian Yu with Amanda Waller standing in front of her.

There was a brief struggle between them, culminating in Waller overpowering Olivia, pinning her down and pushing her arm into Olivia's throat while she talked.

She told her that there would be a boat passing by in a few days and that she should build a bonfire on the shore looking out to whatever. The whole conversation would strengthen the idea that Amanda Waller knows or controls everything around her. Right before she leaves, Waller tells Olivia that she should remember, She is Olivia Queen and she survived the last five years on this hellish island; as far as the world is concerned, for the sake of her loved ones. And then she departs the island, leaving Olivia behind to polish off her training and build the bonfire and get rescued, thus concluding the flashbacks.

  8.  Season 1 Timeline. Basically the same with less Felicity, oh I'll get to her, and more Olivia getting the job done on her own with Diggle while working to mend her relationships with her family and Laurel. The season ends with Olivia and Malcolm's bloody final battle on the rooftop, culminating with Olivia stabbing Malcolm with an arrow through the heart, stabbing Malcolm through the throat with the same arrow, snapping his neck, taking the Lazarus water off of his neck and throwing Malcolm off of the roof.

    He went splat!

So yeah, Malcolm is SUPER dead in this universe!

Olivia was barely able to get to Tommy just in time to pour the Lazarus Water down his throat. It healed him just enough that he survived his wounds but he still had to spend a considerable amount of time in the hospital.
  9. Olivia, realizing just how much she still had to learn, took some time away from Starling City in the aftermath to seek out Lady Shiva for training. After managing to at least impress her in a sparring match, Lady Shiva agreed to train her.

Olivia got her asskicked. A lot. But she still got a lot out of it.
  10. Season 2 Timeline. Olivia returns from her training and steamrolls the Green Arrow impersonators and goes back to work. There are similarities to the CW Canon Arrow Season 2, with the difference being that Deathstroke came after Olivia because, well, he was hired for it. Getting some payback on the Green Arrow was just a bonus. Tommy recovered from his injuries but took time away from Starling City to go find himself in the aftermath of Malcolm's atrocities. Sara Lance's plot was the same, albeit she had an easier time rebuilding her relationship with Laurel and she became a pseudo-official part of the team, with Olivia, Diggle and Sara training Laurel and eventually Thea and Ray Harper.

The adventure eventually concluded with Team Arrow, The League and The Police teaming up against Slade's Mirakuru Army of Mercenaries and Criminals. Culminating in them fighting Slade together until Olivia was finally able to defeat him. Deathstroke was imprisoned by Waller.
  11. Season 3 Timeline.
Season 3 can have the crime syndicate from the flashbacks trying to move into the Starling City. I don't remember if we saw Yakuza in the show so they can be Yakuza; which also explains why they used islands as waypoints in their drug/human trafficking. After all, when season 2 ended, Star City was devastated as a whole. Two big terror attacks in two years, decimating the city leadership and the police force while Olivia ploughed through the criminals which left them also weak meant that Starling City was ripe for taking. And this also opens the possibility that the boss Olivia fought on the island could be someone connected to the big bad trying to take control of the crime in Star City; which makes it about profit as well as being personal and creates connection to the flashbacks.

For Big Bad Material, lets have it be....Shoko Ishiguro. He's from the comics!

For an additional big bad, lets have the opposing side be Danny Brickwell. Brick. He's a metahuman like in the comics and he's got some traits of the other crime bosses of the CW Arrow Series mixed in with him.

So basically the plot of this section of the series is The Yakuza VS Brick's Gang VS Team Arrow who are just trying to keep the city together.

It ultimately concludes with Team Arrow defeating both sides and arresting them.
  12. Season 4 Timeline.

I want to keep things personal for GA, so we'll adapt the Adrian Chase Storyline for this season.
Yeah, I know the island blows up at the end of that story and that Olivia gets off the island at the end of the next season flashbacks, but screw it. My story. My rules.
  13. Season 5 Timeline!
DIAZ! And I mean the REAL Diaz. Not the absolute joke from the show. This Diaz was more in line with the comic version. Practically a male version of Lady Shiva. Just a hurricane of martial arts with a gangster mindset.
  14. Olivia had been away from the city recovering from her wounds from the explosion and fight with Chase, so Diaz set up shop in her absence. When Olivia did return, it was an uphill battle to get to him.

When they finally did meet face to face, Diaz gave Olivia a beating the likes of which she hasn't felt since Season 2.

Retreating, Olivia returned to The Quiver (Arrow Cave) to recover.

Thus the battle between them began with Olivia taking on his criminal empire and having escalating fights with Diaz.

Things got easier as her allies returned, culminating in a final dramatic fight with the team VS Diaz, ending with Olivia finishing him off and arresting him.
  15. However! Diaz was only a harbinger of The Quadrant, truly known as The 9th Circle, a  secret society of criminal masterminds that operated in the shadows of the world with impunity, waging a shadow war with The League of Shadows and CADMUS.

However, the constant interruptions to their operations by the Heroes caused them to switch tactics and come after them much harder to kill them. Leading to them hiring multiple villains of various heroes into a Legion Of Doom to take all of them out.

But this only resulted in the heroes uniting with each other and coming back stronger after their initial losses.
  16. Seasons 6-7 TImeline. The Quadrant War. Justice League VS Army Of Criminal Masterminds, leading to a battle with their leader: Damien Darhk, who'd been feeding on all of the death his minions had been causing in the crossfire both before and during the war with the newly formed Justice League and their allies, including CADMUS and even Lex Luthor (Mostly because he didn't see any profit or value in the destruction they were causing even if he did think the Legion was a good idea if they had better leadership.)

Joker even eventually got involved to jokerize a number of The Ninth's Circles forces because he felt personally insulted they didn't invite him. He's done it in the comics after all.

Things really got out of hand when Joker gassed Helix, the 9th Circle's super hackers, and told them to go wild, resulting in chaotic cyberterrorist attacks around the world until the BatFamily were able to cure them and apprehend Joker.

Upon finally being cornered, Damien killed his remaining forces to harness their souls for power. He still lost and was apprehended by the heroes.

Damien was locked up by Waller and kept in a secure prison cell until he was killed by Vandal Savage.

Damien's corpse was later discovered by the guards with a bloody message scrawled on the wall.

    FOR DARKSEID!
  17. Season 8 Timeline.
    Supermax Story Arc.
  18. Olivia is framed for a crime and is sent to a SuperMax Prison but it's actually an undercover operation for Waller to root out a cult she believes could be attempting to resurrect the same magic that Damien used. She was half right as it turned out the cult actually worked for Vandal Savage and had been experimenting on prisoners with variations of Venom and the Military Experiment that created Deathstroke. If completed, it would've given Vandal access to an army of Super Deathstrokes.

Olivia eventually rooted it out and destroyed their operations. Afterwords, Waller made some calls and Olivia's name was cleared.
  19. Season 9 Timeline.
    Emiko Queen Storyline.
  20. As oposed to the wangsty brat she is in CW Arrow, this version of Emiko was a legitmate victim. A brainwashed minion of Vandal Savage sent to assasinate Green Arrow. Upon discovering her lineage, Olivia and Thea made it a priority to save her, eventually freeing her of her brainwashing and getting her some help. Wonder Woman agreed to take Emiko to Themyscira so she could recover in peace.
  21. Season 10 Timeline.
    Archers Of Three Worlds.
  22. Olivia teaming up with CW Oliver Queen and Smallville Oliver Queen on an Excellent Adventure.
  23. In current times, Olivia is still defending Starling City with her team and has married Laurel.
