Suuuuuuper minor character, only mentioned on occasion in Derrick's own story once or twice in passing and only really showed up in Battalion to get wrecked.
So we'll just cover the bullet points.
- JerkAss. While his family was wealthy, they weren't the sole reason for it. The real problem was that he had severe anger management issues, not to mention narcissism, egomania and conduct disorder.
- Bryce channeled his rage and anger outbreaks into sports and fitness when he wasn't working out or beating up on other kids.
- Tried getting into Derrick's face on his first day at Waterfalls High School (It should be noted that Derrick had taken time away from school after the incident with the cannibals for therapy reasons. He got caught up on school via online courses before entering the High School as a Sophmore.)
- Derrick DGAF. 😄
- After realizing that Derrick had just flash stepped past him and was completely ignoring him, Bryce did a 180 and stalked after Derrick again, still trying to get under his skin.
- Derrick continued to ignore him.
- Annoyed that he wasn't getting the reaction he wanted, Bryce tried to escalate things into a physical altercation.
- Derrick still looked down on him but nevertheless tried to de-escalate things while Bryce kept pushing for a fight. This kept going until Bryce just flat out tried to punch him.
- Now, Derrick had spent the time since the cannibal incident training heavily with his dad in addition to his weight training, so he just grabbed his wrist, twisted it behind his back, kicked the back of his leg and slammed him against a locker and warned him not to do that again. He was willing to live and let live but he really shouldn't push his luck.
- Derrick let him go and walked away.
- Derrick DGAF!
- Bryce certainly did though. A couple of days later he had a pair of mooks follow Derrick into the men's room, intending to mess him up for defending himself. Derrick walked out no worse for wear. Bryce eventually went in to look for them and he found them laying on the ground dazed, with one of their heads laying on the others crotch.
- Let it not be said that Derrick doesn't know how to troll.
- Things just kinda continued like this. Bryce and his group would try to get him, Derrick would humiliate them, rinse and repeat. And that about sums up Derrick's Sophmore year, Summer Break and Junior Year.
- Derrick for his part had tried to diffuse things but they never listened and the more they pushed him the harder he would push back.
- On one occasion, after a long day at school, Derrick was jumped by Bryce's friends. He dealt with them.
- They stopped picking fights with Derrick after that. Also they got suspended for awhile. And lost their positions on the sports team. Derrick ended up taking up Bryce's old position.
- Amusing as it was though, Bryce's continued failure to get the better of Derrick while Derrick kept outdoing him at everything was driving him nuts. His gang drifted apart as they realized how stupid all this was (And they were just plain tired of being punked all the time), his grades were slipping, he was losing sleep, he was just becoming a mess over it.
- Derrick tried once more to bury the hatchet but Bryce refused to hear it from him. After a back and forth argument he slammed the door. Derrick tried again to talk it out to no avail and he left.
- Bryce continued to deteriorate and he spiraled downwards and got mixed up with the wrong people. After he disappeared for awhile, Bryce's old friends recruited Derrick and his friends for help in finding him. Despite the former animosity between them, Derrick still helped them out.
- After a few more days of searching, Bryce showed himself, now looking thoroughly disheveled and obviously in a bad mental place. He pulled a gun on Derrick and fired on him but fortunately The Blackburns had learned more than a few lessons since the cannibal disaster.
- Namely, Derrick's parents had kevlar sewn into his clothes in addition to his bulletproof backpack. Which Derrick just barely got up in time to defend himself. He then charged Bryce and knocked the gun away from him. After a brief struggle he knocked Bryce to the ground and kicked the gun away. Derrick gave him one last chance to just stop all of this and to stay down. Despite everything he'd done, Derrick still wanted to end it without fighting. Unfortunately, Bryce wasn't listening. He pulled a knife and started slashing at him wildly. Derrick beat him back and disarmed him again and threw him to the ground.
- At this point, Derrick was just fed up with him and angrily demanded to know what the hell is beef even was with him. Four years! Four years of this and for what? What was his problem?!
- Bryce's reasoning was pretty much what you'd expect, which Derrick angrily called him out for. And, completely and utterly fed up with Bryce, Derrick then dished out a brutal reason you suck speech to him that completely tore him down. He then ended it all with: "F-k this, f-k you, f-k your pissant attitude, this is done. We're done. Now have some common f-ing sense for once and stay the hell down!"
- It was then that one of Derrick's friends showed up and called over to him. He got distracted for just a moment and then Bryce dived for his knife, grabbed it and attacked Derrick again. Emotions and adrenaline were already running high and Bryce's angrish and flailing weren't helping. Derrick lost his temper, knocked him back, got control of the knife and slashed him. Up and across his eye. Bryce fell to the ground screaming and Derrick dropped it in shock and horror.
- He stumbled backwards and stared down at Bryce as he screamed at Derricka nd rolled on the ground screaming. Derrick called the police.
- Bryce was arrested and while it did go to court, Derrick walked since it was a very clear case of self defense. Open and shut. Bryce went to prison. The last time he saw Derrick, with his one good eye, was the look of regret on his face.
- Several years later, Bryce got out of prison and somehow got involved with a terrorist group.
- But we all saw how that went.
