-As it starts out as a more grounded take on the JP Series, this is to be expected to some degree.
--Cale tries the usual bullying tactics on Lloyd, even getting his gang to join in on shouting at Lloyd, threatening him and insulting him, but this draws the attention of Matthew Maximilian.
 He approaches them and tries to diffuse the situation, only for the bullies to threaten him for it. Matthew ignores this and continues talking to Lloyd. The bullies attack Matthew.
The problem is that Matthew is an athlete and a trained boxer, so the bullies get smacked to the ground. Cale tries to gets his friends to back him up but they panic over the idea of someone actually standing up to them and run for the hills. Cale is left to fight Matthew alone and upon realizing his reputation, practically panics. Matt gives him another chance to walk away which Cale refuses and when he does try to fight him, Matthew defeats him just as easily as his minions.
This results in Matthew and Lloyd getting called to the office and the Principal not only listens to Lloyd, but actually punishes Cale for attacking Lloyd in the first place, helps Lloyd out and gives Matthew a warning not to fight.
Cale is left very shaken by the Principal from the fight and the Principal really calling Cale out on it and now he has to explain it all to his mother, to whom it is hinted that he's really scared, hinting at home problems. Flannery Kingston is shown being sympathetic over this but she also points out that bullying is dumb and it doesn't make your life any better, even explaining some causes for it, and advises him to talk to a counselor to get help. Cale deflates and shows a softer side and thanks her for her help. They chat and he even thanks her for her help and admits that her police officer mother sounds cool. Lloyd also catches up to Cale and tries to mend bridges. His tough guy image shattered, Cale accepts and apologizes for his actions. They follow him outside and Cale meets with his mother who acts coldly towards him, possibly confirming the troubled homelife.
--Flannery's empathy results in mood swings as she feels the pain and emotions from people around her. She nearly breaks down crying when she feels how sad inside Cale is.
 --Flannery's telepathy kicks right in the middle of a high school hallway and it is just as disjointed and chaotic and loud as you'd expect. It takes a great deal of effort for Flannery to reel herself in and Hank shows concern for her.
