So i ain’t gonna lie to y’all...
i’ve got a headcanon where rita is obsessed with trini.
but not the whole “i wanna wear your skin” type of obsession, more like the “i see myself in you, so let me test you. become mini-me or whatever” obsession
so when the rangers battle other big bads, rita (’cause y’all know she needs to make a dramatic comeback) is like “leave little yellow to me”
or! or! or! it could be like xiaolin showdown season two, where chase tries to turn omi into a baddie and succeeds, but only for a moderate amount of time before omi reverts back to being a good guy. except in this instance rita is chase in the situation and trini is omi
and rita does all these terrible things to sorta test trini
during fights, rita usually tries to corner trini and have a one-on-one to see if she’s gotten stronger and test her resolve in being a good guy. the others would try to intervene, but rita would just casually dispatch them before making them watch her fight trini and subsequently injury her horrible before leaving with a mocking compliment and promises to meet again
lol, i guess you could also say rita is possessive of trini when it comes to other baddies
idk, i just really like the idea of rita having an obsession with getting trini to join her
Bonus trimberly:
kim gets really protective over trini whenever rita shows up
trini becomes really insecure about being a ranger when she realizes she can understand rita’s twisted mind and her games. kim reassures her she’s nothing like the disgraced green ranger
kim being heartbroken when trini joins rita (under the influence of rita’s magic/possession/mind control/blackmail) and promising to break trini outta rita’s control
kim camps out on trini’s roof right next to the girl’s window for like a straight week after trini is back to normal
trini invites her in after zack tells her there’s a sleeping ranger on her roof
snuggles and deep talk
trini can’t promise it won’t happen again because she truly believes she is like rita so kim vows to give her a reason to never go astray and prove that she isn’t a mini-rita
their first kiss happens ‘cause of this convo. trini actually initiated it, kim was caught off-guard but kissed her back

Ok, as mentioned in my previous post, I saw the new Power
Rangers movie for the second time today and I noticed some things about
Rita that I found interesting. Slight spoilers below and long post, so
read at your own risk.
We know that Rita was the Green Ranger, before she betrayed and killed her team. According to Zordon, she wanted more power, which is obvious with her trying to get the Zeo crystal. But I can’t help but think there was more to her betrayal than just becoming power hungry for the hell of it.
When she was in Trini’s room, she said that she was the outsider on the team, which I found interesting because you would figure she and her team would have more time to bond, to become friends compared to the kids, who had “met” 11 days previously and only started to really get to know each other that night at the campfire. Hell, even Zordon said that the two of them were friends. But what if Rita didn’t feel like they were?
It becomes more apparent when the kids managed to form the Megazord. Earlier in the film, Zordon mentioned that the teens having to be in unison to morph or something like that. What if they had to be like that to form the Megazord too? Rita’s face clearly showed her disbelief and shock at seeing it, even saying that “it’s not possible” or something similar, making me think that Zordon, Rita, and the rest of their team couldn’t form it for what ever reason.
Remember when Trini asked what would happen to them after the battle with Rita? If they would just be Power Rangers or if they would be friends? What if Zordon and the rest of the team thought they were the latter, but Rita thought they were the former? And they were in enough unison to morph but not enough to form the Megazord? Because not everyone on the team thought that they were real friends?
And Rita, feeling like the outsider on her team, feeling like friendships couldn’t last because if her team couldn’t be friends how could these teenagers who had no idea about each other for the most part have any hope, yelled at them that they can’t last, their friendship can’t last, just like her “friendships” didn’t last.
I feel like Zordon was part of the problem. Because, before she was essentially bitch slapped into space and after Jason told that Zordon would be the judge of her, she yelled “No matter what Zordon thinks, I will always be worthy!” And we know that Zordon is quick to judge people’s worth because he was quick to brush off the kids, despite the fact that they are fucking kids and just became Power Rangers and found out that they had 11 days to get their shit together to save their whole goddamn town, let alone the universe, when he probably had more time to figure out how to be a Ranger.
What if he questioned Rita’s worth as a Ranger? Not sure how much, but just enough, that despite him thinking they were friends, that Rita didn’t believe that they were friends, and thought that he thought she wasn’t a real Ranger and was a mistake, just like the teens? And that is what led to her thinking that she needed more power to prove to him that yes she was worthy of being a Ranger or even just being worthy of being a friend. And, yeah, it took a horrible turn but was it all because Rita thought that she was an outsider and wanted to justify her being a Ranger?
Because, yes, I think that underneath her madness and greed, she really just wanted to be seen as a Power Ranger, but most of all, be seen as a real friend because, when she screaming her worth, her face kinda looks… sad. Broken. Hurt that she had to yell out her worth to a bunch of children, when I guarantee you that she imagining yelling that at Zordon.
Idk, just some food for thought if it makes any sense. Any grammar/spelling errors are mine. Feel free to add to this.

And Finally.....
- Zordon: Why would you kill Billy?!
- Rita: Probably because I’m a dangerous sociopath with a long history of violence.
- Zordon: …Oh…Yeah
- Rita: I don’t understand how you keep forgetting that.
